It forms part of the Central Highlands. We can use three different routes, SIRIMON ROUTE, CHONGORIA ROUTE OR NARO MORU ROUTE.

4 Days Sirimon Route Mt Kenya Climbing Safari
DAY 1: Nairobi-Nanyuki-Old Moses
Departure from Nairobi at 0700 hrs from your hotel and transfer to Nanyuki arriving after 3 hours. Later transfer to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp for overnight (3300m), 3 to 4 hrs hikes (9kms).
Old Moses camp is where you acclimatize as you also come across different vegetation.
DAY 2 :Old Moses – Shiptons
After breakfast Hike to Shipton’s camp (4200m )through Liki and Makinders valley for overnight (6 to 8 hrs hikes) 17
Day 3 : Shipton Camp-Point Lenana-Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 9-10hrs, 21km
Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards Harris Tarn arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Shipton Camp, 2hrs, for breakfast and further, 4hrs, down to Old Moses Camp for dinner and overnight, B, L, D
Day 4: Judamaier Camp (Old moses) -Sirimon-Nairobi 2-3hrs, 9km
After breakfast, walk down through the rainforest for 2 hours to connect with your transport vehicle back to Nairobi
5 Days Sirimon-Chogoria Mt kenya Climbing Adventure
Day 1: Nairobi-Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi in the morning at around 9/10am for Nanyuki arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon is spent in this area for acclimatization by walking along the equator line. Dinner and overnight in a budget hotel.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp
After breakfast, drive to Sirimon Park Gate. After check-in start hiking through the Rain Forest for 9 km (5/6 hours) to Old Moses camp (3300m). Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Day 3: Old moses-Shipton Camp
Depart Old Moses Camp at 7:30 am via Mackinders Valley to Shipton Camp (4200m). The distance takes 8to9 hrs 15km. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Shimpton-Point Lenana- Chongoria
Early morning departure (3:00 am) to the summit, a walk that takes 3 hrs to point Lenana (4985m) arriving at 6:30 in the morning. After sunrise, descend to Mintos Hut for full breakfast and later proceed down through the Gorges valley to Chongoria Bandas and campsite. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Chongoria-Nairobi
After breakfast, set on morning journey to Chongoria village (32km) if you don’t want you can take a jeep you pay direct or you cost share in a group. Then after Chongoria the transport is provided back to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon.
6 Days Naromoru-Chongoria Mt Kenya Climbing Tour
Day 1: Nairobi/Mt Kenya
Depart Nairobi in the morning arriving Naromoru in time for lunch. After lunch you proceed to Mt Kenya Youth Hostel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Met Station
After breakfast, proceed to Naromoru Park Gate and start hiking to Met Station (3300m). The hiking takes about 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mackinders Camp
Depart Met Station after breakfast and proceed to Teleki Valley arriving Mackinders Camp (4300m) early evening. Picnic lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Austrian Camp
Depart at 10:00 am after breakfast ascending along a steep screw to Austrian Hut (4700m).Covering this distance takes about 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 : Point Lenana-Chongoria
Departing at 5:30 am, proceed through Lewis Glacier to Point Lenana(4985m) arriving approx. 6:30 am in the morning. After the sunrise, descend down to Mintos Hut for full breakfast. Later descend along the famous Gorges Valley to Chongoria campsite. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Chogoria – Nairobi
After breakfast, set on morning journey to chongoria (32km).4WD vehicles are provided but during the bad weather, climbers have to walk some distance as vehicles may not reach the bandas. From Chongoria transport is provided back to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon.
6 Days Sirimon-Naromoru Mt Kenya Climbing Safari
Day 1: Nairobi – Naro Moru
Leave Nairobi in the morning and head to Naro Moru the base camp at the Mt. Kenya Youth Hostel. After lunch we will debrief and check the mountain gear. Then we will have free time and relax at the Youth Hostel Camp site where we will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Old Moses
After an early breakfast we will drive for 1 1/2 hours to Sirimon Gate. You will check in here and start walking 3-4 hours for 9 km to Judmaier Camp at 3,350 m. You will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 3: Judmaier- Shipton’s Camp
After breakfast you will begin your hike and proceed on crossing Ontulilli stream several times. You will continue straight to Liki North stream coming to the top ridge and down to Mackinder’s Valley and then finally to Ship ton’s Camp at 4,200 m where we will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4 : Shipton’s- Austrian Hut
After breakfast start ascending through the Simba Col, a steep ridge that takes about one hour to climb via Simba Tarn. We will have amazing views as we approach Delamere Peaks and hike down to Austrian Hut at 4,790 m where we will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 5: Point Lenana
Leave at 5:00 am and start ascending across Lewis Glacier to arrive at Point Lenana around 6.30 am for the sunrise. After enjoying the spectacular views proceed down to Mackinders Camp for breakfast and then descend to the Met Station for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Met Station- Nairobi
Depart at 7:30 am and walk for 9 km through the tropical rain forest to Naro Moru gate where will get picked up by a 4 WD and then return back to Nairobi.
